I think I would want to know ahead of time.  I dont think I would want to be told five minutes beforehand that I was getting shots.  In fact, that did indeed happen to me at a checkup when I was 13 or so.  Mom reassured me that there would be NO shots at the appointment.  None.  Zip.  Zero.  Zilch.  I got told I needed tetanus shots about halfway through the appointments.  My sweet mother threw me under the bus and quickly agreed with the doctor that this should happen at this very appointment.

And you may be able to guess what happened next.

Yep.  I passed out.

Of course now that I am the mom, I see things a little differently.

Really its all about when do I want to hear the crying and for how long?  At the office I only hear it for a few minutes.  If I tell them in the morning, like I did with Sugar today, I get to hear the tears all da long.  Yay for me.

But which is right?  Opinions?

…walking into your children’s bedroom when they are supposed to be sleeping, to find that they are indeed not sleeping.  It is the shock when your five year old boy says that he and his sister are CLEANING their room (on their own initiative).  It is thinking you should tell them to to sleep, but instead just saying "carry on" and then closing the door.

…waking up at 5 am because the baby is crying, and then not being able to go back to sleep for an hour, but then having another kid start crying just as you’re about to fall asleep.

…dropping what you are doing because the two year old has decided to change the "stinky baby" by herself, but as she gets the diaper open and sees the poop she screams and runs away.

It is also deciding that instead of rinsing the poop-of-a-breastfed-but-solids-eating-baby out of the  semi-nasty-anyway, hand me down onesie, that one is better off just throwing the garment in the trash.

Scrubbing poop is just not on the schedule today.

…holding your sleeping baby in a dark room and just letting her sink into you.  Putting your cheek against hers and absorbing her sweet baby smell.  Loving her so much that you can feel how much Heavenly Father loves you and knowing that life is all about moments like these.

…holding your baby down at the doctor’s office so the nurse can administer her vaccinations, while your four year old (with impeccable timing) vomits on the floor behind you.

…carefully transporting chocolate milk soaked artwork from the living room to the kitchen while one of your exposed bosoms freestyles it, because you were nursing the baby at time of milk spilling accident.
